Mastering the Desert: HyperStrong's ESS Solutions for Harsh Environmental Challenges

The combination of extreme temperatures, sandstorms, and dust poses significant challenges to energy storage systems (ESS) - challenges that demand highly reliable solutions and robust engineering.

Technical Innovations for ESS Under Desert Environments

Cooling Unit Customization

While conventional compressors have an evaporation temperature limit of 65°C and cannot operate at full load above 50°C, our customized high-condensing temperature compressor achieves reliable operation at evaporation temperatures up to 95°C, maintaining stable performance in the 55°C~65°C range.

For extreme high-temperature environments up to 65°C, our solutions implement R134a or R513a refrigerants, replacing conventional R410a systems which face performance derating issues above 45°C.

Enhanced Heat Exchange System

To address the insufficient cooling capacity of standard condensers and fans in ultra-high temperature environments, we've optimized the system by increasing both the condenser heat exchange surface area and cooling fan airflow capacity. This enhancement ensures effective heat dissipation under extreme temperature conditions.

Nano-ceramic Reflective Coating

The advanced nano-ceramic coating technology achieves solar reflectivity of 85-88%, reducing container surface temperatures by 10~15°C. This environmentally friendly coating solution provides thermal protection without producing hazardous waste or emissions, creating an effective thermal barrier for the equipment.

Comprehensive Thermal Management

The system features an integrated liquid cooling design featuring upward air exhaust, avoiding heat island effect and improving system efficiency.

The liquid cooling units are protected by removable, high-temperature resistant metallic filters for effective sand and dust prevention, facilitating easy maintenance. Equipped with automatic pressure detection and early warning capabilities, the system intelligently alerts maintenance requirements when filter blockage occurs.

The multi-layer reflective and thermal insulation design, incorporating top, side, and bottom insulation, effectively isolates the battery system from external environmental impacts.

Finally, our innovative upward air discharge design effectively mitigates the "heat island effect," delivering:

•          Ambient temperature reduction of approximately 8°C

•          Over 25% decrease in liquid cooling unit power consumption

•          50%+ extension in electrical equipment service life

All the above innovative ultra-durable components together achieved the outstanding performances under harsh conditions.

The effectiveness of our solutions is demonstrated through our extensive project portfolio in challenging environments. One of our flagship projects (65MW/260MWh) operates flawlessly in western China, where the environment is characterized by sandy conditions and extreme temperature variations from -30°C to +40°C. This installation, along with numerous others across similar challenging locations, showcases our ability to deliver reliable energy storage solutions in the most demanding conditions.
